Turning 30 felt like the perfect excuse to do something magical—so I decided to spend my milestone birthday at Walt Disney World! I went in early September, which turned out to be an amazing choice. The crowds were lighter, the weather was warm (okay, very warm), and there was so much going on across all the parks.
Where I Stayed
For my first night, I splurged a little and stayed at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. It’s such a fun, colorful place, and honestly, it felt like I’d stepped right into one of Disney’s animated worlds. The themed rooms and larger-than-life characters around the property made it a great way to kick off the trip.
After that, I moved over to Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort for the rest of my stay to save a bit of money—and it was perfect for what I needed. The resort still had that Disney magic, and since I spent most of my time in the parks anyway, it was a smart budget-friendly choice. The All Star hotels were updated within the last few years, so I was cozy in clean + updated rooms!
Park Hopping Magic
Over the course of the trip, I managed to visit all four parks—Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom—plus a day at Typhoon Lagoon! I even scored an After Hours ticket for Hollywood Studios, which meant shorter lines and a chance to ride my favorite ride, Hollywood Tower of Terror, multiple times without the usual wait.
Special Disney Experiences
One of the absolute highlights was my birthday dinner at Cinderella’s Royal Table inside the castle at Magic Kingdom. It’s one of those “bucket list” Disney experiences, and it was every bit as magical as I’d hoped. The atmosphere, the princess meet-and-greets, and that view of Fantasyland from inside the castle—it was unforgettable. The only regret was my noticeable sunburn in every princess photo-op. Oops.
Another night, I attended Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom, and it was so much fun! The decorations, the special parades and fireworks, and seeing everyone in costumes gave the park a completely different vibe. Plus, the candy haul was no joke! I sincerely enjoyed the Sanderson Sisters and the show they put on alongside Oogie Boogie and the Shadow Man.
EPCOT’s Food & Wine Festival
This was my first time experiencing EPCOT’s International Food and Wine Festival, and wow—why did I wait so long? Sampling dishes and drinks from around the world was such a treat. It felt like a foodie’s dream come true and added a fun, grown-up twist to my birthday trip. I have another blog post all about my experience and the yummy foods I ate, you can read here!
Final Thoughts
Spending my 30th birthday at Disney World was everything I hoped it would be—nostalgic, exciting, and full of those “pinch me” moments that only Disney can deliver. From the resorts to the rides to the food, it was a perfect way to celebrate a new decade. In fact, I loved it so much, I cashed in one of the bounce-back offers and am going again in early 2026!
If you’re ever thinking about a Disney birthday trip, early September is a great time to go: lighter crowds, special seasonal events, and (if you’re like me) plenty of excuses to embrace your inner kid again.
